I've been tagged!

So the lovely Kate (Mybookliferead.blogspot.com) tagged me to complete a challenge.  

She's provided the questions (which I have bolded below), which I shall answer to the best of my ability.  I will then nominate 10 bloggers I know to answer the ten questions I create.  For more info (the "rules" of the challenge) and for plenty of thoughtful book reviews, click on Kate's blog.  


1) Name the three most recent books you've read.

Ask the Passengers.  Without You, There is No Us. Girls Like Us.  

2) Who is your favorite book ship? 

I looked this up.  I was not sure if a ship always had a romantic connotation, but research tells me it does so...there goes my idea of Scout Finch and Boo Radley.  

Long answer: So Love LOVE.  Hmmmm.  Gosh.  This is the question I am having the most trouble answering.  I am about to go scan my book shelves to nudge my thoughts along.  The truth is....relationships are complicated!  There are individuals I love in so many stories, but often they behave abominably to each other. 

Short answer: Jane Eyre and Rochester.  Not original, I know.  But I first read the book in 8th grade and have loved them since. 

3) Where do you get suggestions on what books to read? (goodreads, friends, randomly, etc.)

Goodreads.  Teacher friends. Students.  Obsessive stalking of author sites.  


4) Any types of books you avoid? (genres, popular books, really long ones, etc.)

I hate anything with time travel and I am on a self-imposed dystopian fiction ban.  Also, no paranormal or fantasy.  

5) What is the book character you relate most to? If you can't think of one, who is one you look up to? 

Dorothea Brooke.  

6) Favorite book to movie conversion? Why?

No.  Ughghghghghghhh.  I see books as a private conversation between the writer, the characters, and the reader.  I don't want someone else's interpretation thrust upon me, which is what has to happen for a book to be turned into a movie. 

7) You're having a party, and you can invite 5 authors (dead or living). Who would you invite?

Not a party person, but...Margaret Atwood; Sylvia Plath; Pablo Neruda; Toni Morrison; John Green.  


8) Choose a book that has yet to be turned into a movie? Who would you cast in which parts?

No.   See # 6. 

9) Do you judge a book by its cover? (Be honest...)Why or why not?

Totally.  It's rarely led me astray.  I love book cover art, and especially in current literature, with the kind of budgets publishing houses have, there's really no excuse for an ugly cover. 

10) Name a few books on your TBR list. 

I have fifty books on my "to read" Goodreads shelf and a Pinterest board of even more titles. I LOVE the sense of possibility such massive lists give me.
